Discover the Atacama night: Andean cosmovision talk, laser-guided sky tour, telescope observation and an astrophotography portrait in small semi-private groups.

Journey details

We pick you up in San Pedro and drive to a dark-sky site away from town lights. We start with an Andean cosmovision talk, then a laser-guided sky tour to locate the Milky Way, Southern Cross and Magellanic Clouds. Through the telescope you’ll observe planets, clusters and nebulae (season-dependent). We finish with an astrophotography portrait and hot beverage before returning.

Itinerary

Pick-up times: Winter (Jun–Aug): 19:45–20:15 • Summer (Dec–Feb): 20:45–21:15 (Shoulder months may vary slightly depending on sunset time and lunar phase.)

Welcome & Andean cosmovision: Brief introduction to the Atacama sky and the Lickanantay worldview (Chakana, seasons and orientation). Safety briefing and what to expect during the night.

Laser-guided sky tour: We locate the Milky Way, Southern Cross and Magellanic Clouds, plus seasonal constellations, using a green laser pointer.

Telescope observation: Observation of planets (when visible), star clusters, nebulae or double stars. Targets vary with season and moon phase.

Astrophotography portrait: Night portrait under the starry sky. Edited and delivered digitally after the tour.

Hot beverage & stargazing break: Tea or hot chocolate while we answer questions and enjoy the silence of the desert.

Return to your lodging: Drive back to San Pedro and drop-off at your accommodation within the urban area.

Weather & moon notes: Weather-dependent activity. Full overcast nights may be rescheduled when possible. Moon phase affects visibility; we choose dates to optimize the experience.

Recommendations for your trip

Very warm clothing (thermal layers, hat, gloves, jacket), closed shoes. Water. Avoid alcohol before the tour. Keep phone brightness low / use red light.
